I’ll be sharing new panel paintings this November 2020 at Smith and Vallee Gallery in Edison, WA, a historic town in the beautiful Skagit Valley of western Washington. This is my fifth show at the gallery, and it is always a pleasure to work with such excellent people. Smith and Vallee is in a 100+ year old building repurposed as an airy and modern art gallery. This small town packs a lot of charm, and you won’t go hungry.

My oil paintings explore interactions of line, shape and color in space, inspired by complex Pacific Northwest forests. I have a special interest in manipulating color to guide the viewer’s eye through the painting’s depth and across its near infinite data points, just as we experience the forest. The writings of Frank Stella and David Hockney were constantly in my thoughts as I planned my paint layers. I’m excited to see this body of work hung in the warm, historic and dramatic setting of Smith and Vallee.

The gallery’s website is an excellent resource to study these paintings, since all works will be available to view online. Hope to see you in Edison!
